THE ASPHALT MODEL : Results of the SHRP Asphalt Research Program
نویسنده
چکیده
Of the $150 million USD pledged for the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP), approximately one-third ($50 million USD) is designated for Asphalt Binder Research. The SHRP program is a fiveyear, highly focused, product-oriented research effort. The goal of the asphalt portion of the program is to issue a new binder and mixture specification that will help federal, state and local regulatory and specifying agencies obtain better performing hot-mix asphalt concrete (HMAC) pavements.

The Effect of Initial Pavement Smoothness on Long- Term Roughness Progression: Some Findings from C-ltpp and Us-ltpp Studies
This brief provides findings on the observed effect of initial pavement smoothness (also known as initial roughness, or as-constructed roughness) on the long-term pavement roughness progression of asphalt overlays. The relationship can be used as a measure for estimating the long-term effect of pavement smoothness and for consideration when developing smoothness specifications and/or payment ad...
متن کاملModeling of Resilient Modulus of Asphalt Concrete Containing Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement using Feed-Forward and Generalized Regression Neural Networks
Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is one of the waste materials that highway agencies promote to use in new construction or rehabilitation of highways pavement. Since the use of RAP can affect the resilient modulus and other structural properties of flexible pavement layers, this paper aims to employ two different artificial neural network (ANN) models for modeling and evaluating the effects of ...
متن کاملEffect of Reclaimed rubber Modification on the Rheological Properties and Rutting Resistance of Asphalt Binders
In this paper, the effect of reclaimed rubber modification on the rheological characteristics of asphalt binders is studied. Reclaimed rubber with the extent of 12, 16 and 20 is added to the neat asphalt binder and then shear complex modulus is obtained for neat and modified asphalt binder via Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) test. Using Christensen-Anderson- Marasteanu (CAM) model, master curves ...
متن کاملThe Use and Performance of Asphalt Binder Modified with Polyphosphoric Acid (PPA)
Background The modification of asphalt binder to improve performance properties has grown significantly since the implementation of the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) binder specifications. There has been increased use of polymers, crumb rubber modifier and Polyphosphoric Acid (PPA). There has been concern by many highway agencies about the performance characteristics of PPA modifica...
متن کاملNew Model for Visco-Elastic Behavior of Asphalt Mixture with Combined Effect of Stress and Temperature
The analysis of pavements and their ingredients has always been important due to a good understanding of their behavior under different conditions; that leads to more accurate relations. Due to the extent of asphalt mixture application in the world, the assessment of different behaviors of this mix is very important from various aspects of performance and safety. Given that the asphalt mixtures...
